PakistanNawaz Sharif sees attempts to delay elections

SUKKUR: Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that ‘some forces’ were in the quest to delay upcoming elections through putting demands, in an obvious reference to Tahirul Qadri and PTI chairman Imran Khan, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

“I can sense that there is a deliberate attempt to postpone the elections,” he said, while referring to demands by some political parties regarding reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Talking to media persons at the airport on his arrival, PML-N chief said that he was bracing for a ‘third’ force after Imran Khan and Qadri.

Former Prime Minister said consultations were underway with different political parties over the caretaker prime minister.

“Names are being recommended for the post of caretaker prime minister,” Nawaz said, adding “I am not aware of my meeting with President Zardari.”

PML-N chief blamed incumbent rulers for unrest in Karachi and lamented that the Supreme Court had to take action into Shahzeb murder after Sindh government apathy into the cold-blooded murder of the Karachi youth.

“Situation in Karachi would not have reached this far if appointments had been made on merit,” Nawaz opined.
