ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif will be issued the emergency travel documents if he desires to return to Pakistan.
While addressing a News Conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, the minister said that the passport of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expiring tonight.
Sheikh Rashid reminded that the names of both Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have been on the Exit Control List (ECL) since August 2018, adding that the passports cannot be issued to those placed on the ECL.
However, he added that Nawaz Sharif is not being stopped from returning back to Pakistan.
Alluding to the upcoming Senate Elections to be held on March 3, the minister expressed the confidence that the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) will emerge victorious in the polls.
The interior minister said that there will be political stability and reduction in rumour-mongering in the wake of Senate Elections 2021.
The minister said that the Country will move forward economically and financially under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Furthermore, he said that the network of NADRA Offices will be expanded at the Tehsil headquarters level. He said the NADRA will issue 100,000 Identity Cards per day.
The interior minister said that the fee of passports for 10 years has also been reduced. He asked the people to apply for 10 years passport in order to reduce the burden on Passport Offices.
