ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will not meet Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership in London as he did not desire for such activity during his upcoming visit to the United Kingdom, his Spokesman Mussadek Malk said.
In a statement on Tuesday, the PM’s spokesman said that the prime minister had neither desired any meeting with the leadership of PPP nor such was scheduled.
“The Prime Minister did not express desire to meet PPP leadership during his upcoming London visit,” Mussadek Malik said adding that no such meeting was scheduled.
The prime minister is scheduled to visit London on April 13 for medical check-up.
Meanwhile, the PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari said in a statement that he does not intend to meet the prime minister when the latter will arrive in London on Wednesday.
Zardari said that he stands by the opposition on Panama leaks issue.
Earlier talking to media in Islamabad today, the Opposition Leader in the Senate and senior PPP leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan warned his party against supporting the prime minister on the issue of Panama leaks.
“Nawaz Sharif is going to London on one-point mission to meet PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari and plead for his support,” Aitzaz Ahsan.
The opposition leader, however, warned that PPP would be in trouble if it decided to support Nawaz Sharif this time.
