LAHORE, Pakistan: The Lahore High Court (LHC) was informed on Thursday that the new Chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) would be appointed within one month.
A deputy attorney general made the statement before Justice Shahid Karim who was hearing a petition filed by Advocate Shiraz Zaka, questioning extension in tenure of the Chairman PTA Ismail Shah.
The law officer also presented a copy of advertisement published in the newspapers for the selection of new chairman and assured that the process would be completed within one month.
At this, the Lahore High Court disposed of the petition in the light of assurance given by the law officer.
The petitioner-lawyer had submitted that Syed Ismail Shah was appointed as the Chairman PTA in 2013 for a period of four years under existing laws but he was still holding the post despite the completion of his tenure.
