ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab reiterated Thursday that New Islamabad international airport would be inaugurated on August 14, 2017.

Speaking during question-hour in the Senate the Minister said authorities concerned had briefed prime minister that things with regard to the state-of-the-art New Islamabad international airport were moving ahead smoothly and it would be operational on the above mentioned date.

Thus, the minister expressed his confidence that the much delayed project of the new airport would be completed and ready by August next year.

Regarding water requirements in the new airport, the minister said six high-powered tubewells were being installed to efficiently respond in case of water shortage.

Moreover, two rain water harvesting Dams including Ramma Dam and kasana Dam were planned to be constructed, the Minister said.

He said construction of Ramma Dam was underway which would be completed this year, whereas, for the construction of second Dam i.e Kasana Dam), land was being acquired.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Commerce Engrineer Khurram Dastgir Khan replying to a question said the government had taken several steps to encourage women toward import exports business.

As part of such efforts, the minister said 15 per cent quota had been reserved for women entrepreneurs to participate in the international trade fairs, exhibitions and delegations, adding 50 per cent subsidy on participation fee was also provided to women entrepreneurs.

He said WEXNET was organized as the only exhibition for the women entrepreneurs in Pakistan by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan providing provides women entrepreneurs with the opportunities to exhibit their products, network and learn to collaborate with each other for mutual benefits.

He said the Export Development Fund (EDF) Board had recently approved funds for the Women Entrepreneurs Skill Development Programme (WSDP), Peshawar to train the women entrepreneurs in marketing skills and product design.
