ISLAMABAD: Four members of a family including a father and three sons died from deadly Congo virus in Abbottabad last week, prompting the National Institute of Health (NIH) to issue a Congo alert on Wednesday.
The NIH warned that transportation of millions of sacrificial animals ahead of Eid al-Adha could spread the virus in other parts of country.
As many as 11 persons have been killed from the fever in the country, the NIH said. Five persons have succumbed to the disease in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while six fatalities have been recorded in Balochistan.
It said that 137 people have been suffering from Congo in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
