ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza has said that there is no confirmed case of coronavirus in Pakistan; however, four Pakistani students in China have been diagnosed with the infectious disease.

While addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, Dr Zafar Mirza said that Pakistan Embassy in China is in constant touch with these coronavirus affected students and they are being provided with the best medical treatment. He said that the health of these four students is improving and they will soon recover.

Dr Zafar Mirza said that about 30,000 Pakistanis are living in China and being a responsible government, it is our responsibility to take care of their health.

The Special Assistant appreciated the steps taken by the Chinese government to contain the Coronavirus. He said that steps such as stopping the exit and entry of the people from the Chinese Wuhan area and screening of their people at airports have been applauded by the entire world community.

Dr Zafar Mirza said that our government has also taken a series of precautionary measures as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) to stay safe from this virus.

The prime minister’s special assistant on national health services added that an emergency operation center has been established in the Ministry of Health. In addition, an emergency core committee has also been constituted which meets daily to monitor the whole situation.

The Special Assistant said that a helpline will soon be made operational at the national level in order to keep the people updated about the Coronavirus.
