ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid Friday said that no Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal is being constructed on Bundel Island in Karachi.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Senators Sheher Bano Sherry Rehman, Karim Ahmed Khawaja and Taj Haider, he said that three LNG terminals are being constructed in Karachi while one LNG terminal have already been completed which is away from the residential areas.
The Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani referred the matter of the construction of LNG terminals to the Standing Committee on Climate Change for further perusal and investigations. Before constructing the terminal effects on environment were evaluated. The terminal construction posing no danger to defence infrastructure.
