LAHORE, Pakistan: The Minister for Interior, Planning and Development & Reform Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday said Pakistan did not invest even a single penny on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as all investment was being made by China.
In his address at a Ceremony held in Lahore, the minister said CPEC would be completed in three phases till 2030. He said in first phase of CPEC, energy and physical infrastructure would be developed by 2020 in the Country.
Ahsan Iqbal said the federal government was taking concrete measures to overcome energy crisis and to improve infrastructure.
The planning and development minister said out of $46 billion of CPEC, $35 billion were to be invested on improving Pakistan’s power sector.
The minister said investors from Europe, Middle East and other parts of World would start business in Pakistan which was a proof of positive impact of CPEC on their economy. He said CPEC projects would prove a game changer for the economic progress of Pakistan as well as the region.
Ahsan Iqbal said a new middle class market was emerging in Pakistan as the Country would achieve the gross domestic product (GDP) target of six percent.
