ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Information Technology Board (NITB) will develop a Mobile Application “Corona App” as part of efforts to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic with the help of technology.
The app will be developed on the direction of the Federal Secretary at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, and it will have location-based services to detect Coronavirus patients through radius alert.
Moreover, public awareness videos, Chatbot for public and activity alarm for giving reminders for washing hands, using sanitizer, etc will be made available in the application.
Separately, the City Islamabad App will be used to monitor/complain against those Medical Stores where there is a shortage of masks or any sort of preventive medicine regarding the COVID-19. The strict action will be taken through the district administration once a complaint is received through the app.
The app will also be used to report social gathering.

The City Islamabad App will be used to book a Corona patient’s appointment in advance before the patient enters in designated hospitals. This will also help hospitals to make arrangements in advance.

Besides, banners related to the Coronavirus will be displayed on all government websites.
In addition to that, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has also written a letter to the Federal Secretaries of all Ministries for the adoption of e-Office Application for the social distancing.
