ISLAMABAD: As the military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against militants is continuing in the tribal areas, the number of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the North Waziristan tribal region has increased over 455,000. Pakistan Army is providing maximum moral, social and psychological help to youth who is displaced from NWA.
The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that over 74 percent of those displaced are women and children.
The government has provided 25,000 metric tons of wheat to the World Food Programme (WFP) to support the newly displaced IDPs from North Waziristan.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ officers and staff at the Headquarters and Missions abroad have decided to donate their one day salary to the IDPs relief fund.
The Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association has also announced an amount of Rs500,000 donation for supplying edibles to the IDPs before the onset of Ramazan.
