OBOR counters anti-globalization sentiments and protectionist barriers, says Sartaj Aziz
Monitoring Desk: Without mentioning global developments including Brexit, success of Donald Trump in US elections and rise of Le Pen in phenomenon in France, Advisor to the Pakistani Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz said that One Belt One Road (OBOR) counters anti-globalization sentiments and protectionist barriers.
Addressing at the thematic session on “Connectivity of Think Tanks”,  at Beijing, China Aziz maintained that protectionist approach to hinder free movement of people and goods, ethno-centric nationalism and xenophobia have (had) to be countered and OBOR would the best attempt to cap anti-globalisation wave.

“The One Belt One Road (OBOR) concept is the most significant transformative initiative in recent human history. Through focus on connectivity of infrastructure including roads, rail links, sea routes, ports, and connectivity of policy, trade and finance, we are observing a phenomenon which has few historical parallels. This initiative is a harbinger of shared hopes, common prosperity and win-win cooperation among the people of the World. In a civilizational sense, the true impact of this initiative will be in the realm of thoughts, ideas and cultures. The Think Tanks are the breeding grounds for these elements. Hence, this dialogue of Think Tanks is an extremely important, cross-cutting segment of the OBOR Summit”, commented Aziz.
He lauded the spirit of the OBOR initiative and added that the concept of shared partnerships, and voluntary cooperation are (were) the basic principles of the Belt and Road Vision.

He said that Pakistan have (had) privilege to host China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that is the first flagship project of the Belt and Road initiative.
