ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistani lawmakers have called upon the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to deliberate the issue of genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Buddhist-majority Myanmar and take necessary action in the matter.
In a resolution moved by the Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain in the National Assembly on Wednesday and later passed by the lawmakers, later expressed deep concerns over the heinous crimes being committed by the religious extremists against the Rohingya Muslims.
The lawmakers also called upon the United Nations to intervene to stop human rights violations there.
The resolution called upon the government of Pakistan to impress upon the Myanmar government for the protection of human rights of the peaceful community of Rohingya Muslims.
It also commended the courage of Rohingya Muslims who are bravely facing the genocidal campaign against them.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Senate also passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning the genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, stating that Rohingya Muslims are being denied their natural right of residing in a country where they have been living for centuries.
