KARACHI, Pakistan: All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association has begun its strike in Sindh and Punjab on Monday, suspending Oil Supply throughout the Country.

The strike is being observed against forced cutting in fares in Sindh and Punjab; high handedness by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and others government institutions; and illegal challans and fines imposed by Motorway Police.

Talking to media, the Chairman All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association Mir Yousuf Shahwani said that the Oil Supply would remain suspended across the Country till their demands were met.

Mir Yousuf Shahwani said that Owners of Oil Tankers paid to the government advance tax for three months but yet they were being exploited instead of receiving any relief.

The Chairman said that under the new safety regulations issued by the OGRA, it was made difficult for them to supply Oil throughout the Country.

Sources said that all Oil Tankers have been parked in Shireen Jinnah Colony, Karachi; therefore, Oil Supply to across the Country has completed been by halted.

They said that the Country is once again about to witness the shortage of Oil as Oil Stations stock the Oil for only three days; therefore, it the strike continues it will cause enormous problems for the people.

The implementation of Safety rules by the OGRA began being ensured after an Oil Tanker Caught fire in Ahmedpur Sharqia near Bahawalpur on June 25, resulting in deaths of over 200 people.

Following the incident, the OGRA also imposed a fine of Rs 10 million on the concerned Oil Company for violating the Pakistan Petroleum Rules 1937.
