Senate of PakistanOpposition's protest in Senate was unjust: Dar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar Friday said he always preferred to attend sessions of the Senate and the National Assembly but unfortunately he could not attend the Senate session due to official engagements.

“I always given importance to the Senate as I also belong from this August House. So the protest of the Opposition in the Senate was totally unjust”, the Minister said.

He informed the House that senior officials of the ministry of finance were deputed to remain present in the galleries for taking notes of speeches of honourable Senators on budget.

Commenting on the protest of the Opposition on his absence from the House, he said “It was not a healthy tradition as the House witnessed on Thursday due to his absence.”

He dismissed the perception that the Senate was not being given importance.

Dar said he was in contact with the members of Senate Finance Committee and had decided not to conclude the debate on budget till the recommendations of the Senate be received.
