Well placed sources told APP here on Wednesday that a large number of weapons still were remaining to be computerised in various parts of the province.
Government fixed October 31 as the last date to get the arms license computerised from the approved centres of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) at district level.
Home department Punjab is considering to extend the due date because of the Moharram-ul-Haram and local bodies election in the province. After the expiry of deadline, government will launch crackdown against illegal weapons across Punjab.
This initiative will not only put the weapons of various categories on record of the concerned government agencies but also will discourage the crimes through illegal arms.
