ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Less than 40 percent of the people are purchasing property in legal societies in Islamabad, vindicating the apprehension of the Federal Capital having been flooded with illegal housing societies.
Last month, the Islamabad administration established the Country’s first Property Verification Center adjacent to the Deputy Commissioner Office for the people to verify the authenticity of the land or the property in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat apprised on Twitter on Wednesday that in December 2021, 244 people approached the first Property Verification Center before buying a property in the ICT, and worryingly more than 60 percent of them were about to purchase the property in illegal societies.
Hamza Shafqaat told that 39 people were planning to buy lands which were not even located in Islamabad.

The Deputy Commissioner said that illegal housing societies were hoodwinking the people by just opening their offices in Islamabad without holding the legal possession of any land in the ICT jurisdiction.

Earlier, Hamza Shafqaat told that once the Property Verification Center was approached, the applicant would receive a message, mentioning that the required data had been received and within 24 hours, the Deputy Commissioner would generate a report to him/her verifying the authenticity of the relevant property.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad further told that soon a Portal would be launched for the people anywhere in the Country or abroad, enabling them to online check the legal status of the property in the ICT.
