QUETTA, Pakistan: A two-day regional cross border meeting on polio eradication was held in Quetta between the Balochistan government and Southern Afghanistan, during which they agreed on a mechanism to improve coordination in the joint efforts to eradicate polio.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to improve bilateral coordination in improving quality of vaccination in cross-border villages, case surveillance and for transit vaccination points.

The Balochistan Health Minister Rehmat Baloch said that an estimated 800 children are vaccinated at the Pakistan-Afghanistan friendship gate every day.

Baloch said that we need to ensure each that every child crossing the border is immunized.

The Afghan Kandahar Health Director Dr Abdul Qayyum Pokhala also emphasized for close coordination and collaboration to eradicate polio.
