ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul, Afghanistan on Monday organized an event to observe the 138th birth anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
A number of eminent Afghan literary figures attended the event and paid rich tribute to the Poet of the East. They recited Iqbal’s poems and scholars read their research papers.
Famous Afghan poet and writer Sulemain Laiq, presided over the event while Habibullah Rafi, Daud Nadri (Member of Parliament) and Pir Mahmoud Gailani were guests of the honour, said a message received here from Kabul.
Pakistan Ambassador Syed Abrar Hussain thanked all participants and appreciated the role of writers and poets in bringing people of the two countries closer.
He also highlighted Iqbal’s love for Afghans and Afghanistan expressed through his Urdu and Persian poetry.
Speaking on the occasion, Afghan intellectuals highlighted Iqbal’s contribution as a great philosopher and poet and emphasized the need to follow his teachings which could help overcome the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah.
