NAIROBI, Kenya: The two-day Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference is set to kick off on Thursday at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

The President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta will be the Chief Guest in the Conference.

The Conference will be attended by 40 senior officials and over 150 businessmen from African Countries including Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Senegal, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Niger, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Mauritius, Rwanda, Uganda, Somalia and Burundi.

Representatives of over 80 leading Pakistani Companies, in major export sectors such as textiles and apparel, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, tractors & agriculture implements, banking and transportations, surgical instruments, leather & sports goods, light engineering and electronics, IT & software, and cement & construction services, are in Nairobi to attend the Conference.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Commerce, Industries and Production & Investment Abdul Razak Dawood will deliver keynote speeches in the event, highlighting the relations of Pakistan with Africa.

The Commerce Secretary Sardar Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera will present trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan to the Africa delegates and invite them to enhance Pakistan-Africa trade and investment level, and develop banking and transportation channels to facilitate trade.

Besides, the Kenyan Minister of Trade, the State Minister from Uganda and Undersecretaries form Egypt and Sudan will also attend the Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference.

It’s worth mentioning here that since Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera was appointed as the Secretary Board of Investment (BoI) in November 2018, and later the Secretary Commerce in March 2019, Pakistan has borne fruits of his initiatives and untiring efforts.

With Sukhera assuming the aforesaid posts, Pakistan jumped up 28 places on the World Bank’s (WB) Ease of Doing Business Index and secured a place among the top 10 Countries with the most improved business climate.

And now the first ever Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference is being organized in Kenya as part of the Ministry of Commerce’s “Look Africa Policy Initiative” which will open new avenues for enhancement of Pakistan’s trade with the African Countries.
