COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: The Prime Minister’s Adviser for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said that Pakistan aims to enhance its trade and investment relations with Sri Lanka so that they are commensurate with our bilateral relations.

His remarks came in a Twitter statement as Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Colombo on Tuesday for a two-day visit on the invitation of his Sri Lankan Counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Abdul Razak Dawood said that in line with our policy of enhancing regional trade & connectivity, a delegation of prominent businessmen has also arrived in Sri Lanka.

“Sri Lanka is a very important Country for Pakistan as we signed our first-ever FTA with it,” he remarked.

In tandem with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit, a joint ‘Trade and Investment Conference’ will also be held in Colombo aimed at promoting trade and investment between the two Countries.

The adviser said that during his visit, the whole spectrum of Pakistan-Sri Lanka bilateral trade & economic relations will be discussed and a Trade & Investment Conference will take place in Colombo on February 24.

Besides other engagements in Sri Lanka including meetings with the President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Imran Khan will also participate in the Trade and Investment Conference.

During the visit, a number of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) will be signed to enhance the bilateral cooperation.
