RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Pakistan army on Monday pledged to play its due role in investigation into Panama Papers Case through Joint Investigation (JIT) as per order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The resolve was expressed when the 202nd Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi, the Inter Services Public Relation’s (ISPR) said.

During the Conference, the Corps Commanders reviewed progress of operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was reviewed.

The forum also discussed Panama Case decision by the Supreme Court of Pakistan with special reference to the JIT.

The forum pledged that Institution through its member in JIT shall play its due role in a legal and transparent manner fulfilling confidence reposed by the apex court of Pakistan.

In its historical verdict in Panama Papers Case announced on April 20, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the formation of a JIT to further probe the Panama Case involving Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members over investment in Offshore Companies.

The Court ordered to form the JIT within a week and it would consist of a representative each from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), State Bank of Pakistan, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
