ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan army’s Second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat embraced Shahadat when terrorists fired on army vehicle from surrounding mountains in North Waziristan agency, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ISPR said that the 21-year-old second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed recently passed out from Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), Kakul, and was a resident of Burewala City of Southern Punjab’s Vehari District.

The IPSR said that along with Second Lieutenant, the 21-year-old Sepoy Basharat was also martyred. Basharat had a three-year experience in military service, and was a resident of Danyor Village in Gilgit.

In a statement over the Shahadat of two Pakistani soldiers in North Waziristan, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said “Freedom isn’t free, it costs sons of the soil. Freedom that we enjoy today is owed to so many such brave hearts. Salute to our Martyrs”.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly offered Fateha for Second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat martyred in North Waziristan agency.

A large number of Pakistan army troops have been deployed in North Waziristan tribal region along the Pak-Afghan border as part of the Zarb-e-Azb and Rudd-ul-Fasaad military operations.

Once North Waziristan had become a stronghold of militants, and offered an ideal safe haven for them. However, Pakistan army successfully launched anti-terrorists operations in the tribal region, purging North Waziristan of militants. Though militants still seldomly attack Pakistan army Check Posts and vehicles from across the border.
