Pakistan asks two Indian journalists leave country: report

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has asked two Indian journalists to leave the country within a week after their visas expired and Islamabad declined to renew their visas, a US-based newspaper citing a Pakistani government official reported.

The two Indian journalists including Meena Menon of the Hindu newspaper and Snehesh Philip of Press Trust of India arrived in Pakistan in August 2013. Their visas were valid until March 9, 2014 and both had submitted applications to renew their visas before the expiration date.

After their original visas expired, the director of the External Publicity Wing, a department within the Ministry of Information that deals with foreign journalists, informed both journalists that their visas wouldn’t be renewed and asked them to start making preparations to leave Pakistan within a week, the newspaper said.
