ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The visiting Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday morning and discussed bilateral matters including ways to enhance cooperation in various fields.
During the meeting, the prime minister said that Pakistan would be pleased to extend more cooperation in all these fields.
The Australian foreign minister thanked Pakistan for extending cooperation to Australia in important fields like countering terrorism, drug trafficking, trans-national crime, human smuggling and organized crime. She said that the two countries should strengthen relations in these fields.
The meeting came a day after the Australian foreign minister reached Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.
Shortly after her arrival in Islamabad, Julie Bishop held a meeting with the Prime Minister’s Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.
Both the sides agreed to further strengthen their relations in diverse fields including trade and economy during the meeting.
Julie Bishop is also scheduled to visit Lahore today where she will meet the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
