IndiaPakistan calls upon India to investigate Sanaullah’s death

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday expressed its deep concern and demanded investigation into the death of Sanaullah, who died of his injuries at India’s Chandigarh hospital six days after being tortured in Indian-held Kashmir jail.

Sanaullah was attacked by an Indian ex-serviceman Vinod Kumar at Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal Jail a day after Sarabjit Singh succumbed to wounds following an assault in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail.

“The Government of Pakistan offers its deep condolences to the family of Sanaullah,” Foreign Office said in a statement.

“The Government of Pakistan is making necessary arrangements to repatriate his mortal remains to Pakistan. We hope that the Government of India will extend expeditious facilitation to that end,” it said.

Pakistan has expressed its deep concern and called for investigation into the murder of Pakistani inmate Sanaullah.

“The brutal manner in which Sanaullah was attacked in the jail is most unfortunate and a matter of deep concern for the Government of Pakistan. We have conveyed our concern to the Government of India in this regard and demanded that an investigation into the incident be held and perpetrators of this heinous crime be brought to justice.”

The Prime Minister of Pakistan has also called upon India to ensure the safety and security of all Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails.

Pakistan High Commission has suggested for agreement regarding safety of prisoners between India-Pakistan Sanaullah.
