HARIPUR, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan cannot afford a leadership which is non-serious and takes U-turns.
His statement was made apparently referring to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan who earlier had announced to boycott the National Assembly till a judicial commission was formed and it declared the 2013 general elections clean and transparent after an investigation.
However, the PTI lawmakers on Monday attended the joint session of the Parliament which had been convened to discuss the Yemen issue.
In his address to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers in Haripur on Thursday, the prime minister said that those making tall claims of making new Pakistan should first make a new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“We first want to see the reflection of new Pakistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Nawaz Sharif said.
The prime minister said that the federal government will launch mega development projects including motorways and highways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to make it completely a new province.
Nawaz Sharif said that ground breaking of Hazara motorway has been performed which will change the destiny of this area.
Moreover, he said that there are plans to establish economic zones along the motorway in order to provide job opportunities to the youth. He assured that the development will also be carried out in the tribal areas in order to bring the areas at par with the developed ones.
Talking about the Karachi situation, Nawaz Sharif said that it is because of prudent decisions of the government that peace has started reviving in Karachi. He said that incidents of extortion, kidnapping for ransom and targeted killings have been brought to an end in the provincial metropolis.
“Karachi has again been put on the path of development,” the premier said.
The prime minister further said that the country has been turned around in the last two years and the next three years will be the years of development and prosperity.
