ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Friday that it is fully committed to the peace process and composite dialogue with India‚ including enhanced people-to-people contacts and friendly exchanges, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

In response to a question regarding media reports about cancellation of India-Pakistan hockey series and delays in implementation of the Visa Agreement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesman said that sports‚ cultural events and people-to-people contacts build trust and confidence between the two countries.

The spokesman said that Pakistan believes that in the larger interest of peace between Pakistan and India‚ sustained and uninterrupted implementation of confidence building process including sports events are required.

It is pertinent to mention that the Indian government on Friday called off the bilateral hockey series between India and Pakistan amid diplomatic tensions.

The Pakistan’s hockey team was scheduled to tour India in April for five Test matches, which would have revived the bilateral hockey relations between the two traditional rivals in nearly seven years.
