ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has condemned the terrorist attack on the convoy of the Afghan presidential election front-runner Abdullah Abdullah in the Afghan capital earlier in the day.
An explosion hit the convoy of Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah as he left a campaign rally in Kabul on Friday. The blast left at least four persons killed and 17 others injured; however, Abdullah himself was left unharmed.
In a statement on Friday, the Foreign Office expressed the confidence that the people of Afghanistan will defeat any attempt aimed at thwarting their democratic journey and their quest for peace and progress.
“Pakistan, for its part, will continue to support all efforts for peaceful elections and democratic transition in Afghanistan,” the statement said.
