ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Readymade garments worth $1.101 billion were exported from the Country during first six months of current financial year as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last year.
Exports of the readymade garments grew by 5.87 percent as about 15,615 thousand dozens of readymade garments exported from July-December 2016-17 which were recorded at 15,373 thousand dozens worth $ 1.04 billion during same period of last year.
Meanwhile, knitwear exports increased by 0.17 percent as about 62,929 thousand dozens of knitwear worth $1.193 billion exported as compared to exports of 53,878 thousand dozens worth $1.191 billion of same period of last year.
During first half of current financial year, bed wear worth $1.043 billion exported as compared to the exports of $997.62 million of same period of last year.
In last six month about 172,988 metric tons of bed wear exported which recorded about 4.66 percent growth in its exports as bed wear exports from the Country were recorded at 159,075 metric tons in same period of last year.
From July-December, country earned $71.236 million by exporting 23,100 metric tons of tents, canvas and tarpulin as compared to exports of 16,645 metric tons valuing $42.083 million of same period of last year.
It may be recalled that textile group exports was recorded at $6.156 billion during first two quarters as compared to exports of $6.259 billion of same period of last year.
In first half value added textile sector exports including readymade garments, knit sear and bed wear recorded positive growth in their respective exports.
Whereas exports of raw cotton, cotton yarn and cotton cloth witnessed negative growth during last two quarters of current financial year.
