QUETTA, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif (COAS) has said that the security threats being faced by Pakistan are complex, multidimensional and hybrid in character; therefore traditional response mechanisms are irrelevant.
In his remarks during his visit to the Command and Staff College in Quetta on Thursday, the army chief said that wars are not fought by armies alone, rather it requires whole of nation effort.
The COAS said that only a secure Pakistan can be a prosperous Pakistan. He said that our fight against terrorism and extremism is not for today only but for our future generations.
The army chief said that noteworthy achievements in the military operation Zarb-e-Azb have created a space for a decisive surge against terrorists in urban areas and environment is getting ripe for political optimization towards a meaningful and sustainable closure.
