ISLAMABAD: The country is facing losses worth Rs one trillion annually due to load shedding, the federal minister for water and power Khawaja Asif told media at the parliament house in Islamabad on Friday.
The minister said that there is not a single defence institute of the country which is a defaulter of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
Asif said that Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have promised to clear outstanding amounts by the end of June. However, he said, Sindh and Azad Kashmir are not cooperating with the ministry.
The minister for water and power said that the government would construct Dasu Dam from its own resources. He said that Rs 25 billion have been released for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha dam.
