ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Monday expressed deep grief over the tragic incident involving crash of a Russian airliner on February 11, 2018, resulting in the loss of 71 precious lives.

On Sunday, Russian passenger plane – Antonov An-148 – crashed shortly after taking off from Moscow’s Domodedovo airport, killing all 65 passengers and six crew on board.

“The people and the government of Pakistan are deeply saddened at the tragic crash of a Russian passenger aircraft,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday.

“We convey our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”

The statement said that the people and the government of Pakistan share the pain of the people and the government of the Russian Federation and stand by them in this hour of grief.

Antonov An-148 – operated by Saratov Airlines – was en route to Orsk City in the Ural mountains when it crashed near the village of Argunovo, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) southeast of Moscow.
