ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Leghari on Friday said there was a lot of opportunities for the entrepreneurs of Denmark to invest in Pakistan.
Talking to the ambassador Denmark in Pakistan Rolf Holmboe in Islamabad, the minister apprised the envoy regarding the steps which had been taken by the Pakistani incumbent government to meet the challenges in energy sector.
The minister said renewable energy was a fast expanding sector and with the opening of competitive bidding, the sector would offer best opportunity for the investors. He said Pakistan had taken decision to call competitive bidding for renewable energy power generation in order to utilize the resources for due benefits to the consumers.
Awais Leghari invited the ambassador to extend their assistance in the establishment of renewable energy institute. He said new Energy Policy of the Pakistani government was at final stages, adding the policy would determine the demand and supply scenario of electricity in the Country.
The Denmark’s ambassador agreed on extending their bilateral relations and to work collectively on different sectors particularly in power sector. He said they wanted to be the partner with Pakistan to meet the energy challenges.
Rolf Holmboe also admired the significant contribution made by power division, and said power sector was the fast growing sector in Pakistan.
While thanking the ambassador, the federal minister further invited him to come forward and work with Pakistan in making new energy policy.
The ambassador said Denmark had greater experience in renewable energy, adding close working would also boost the capacity of energy sector in Pakistan.
The Denmark’s ambassador assured the minister that the cooperation in the energy sector between the two Countries would be enhanced and they would provide further assistance to the Pakistan in the field of energy.
