SINGAPORE: Pakistan High Commission in Singapore, in coordination with the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), GCB2B, Enterprise Singapore, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and Pakistan Business Council (PBC) organized a webinar on “FYI: Pakistan Food Buyer-Seller Meet (Packaged Food)” on May 27, 2021.

The webinar was organized in pursuance of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for boosting economic diplomacy.

This was the second of a series of webinars aimed at projecting Pakistan’s potential in various areas and first under the ‘South Asia Edition of FYIstival’ hosted by SBF.

The first webinar was conducted in November last year to showcase investment opportunities in Pakistan’s Agro-food and Tech sector.

In her opening remarks, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore Ms. Rukhsana Afzaal underscored the promising future of Pakistan as an emerging economy.

Ms. Rukhsana Afzaal highlighted the scope of Pakistani packaged and processed food offering a diverse range of spices, cereals, snacks, and beverages in Singapore and the ASEAN region.

The Vice-Chairman (South Asia Business Group), Singapore Business Federation Mr. Shamsher Zaman, in his welcome remarks, urged the local companies to tap into investment opportunities in agro-food sectors.

The Director General TDAP Mr. Abdul Karim Memon welcomed the opportunity for sharing the scope of Pakistan’s agri-food exports to Singapore.

The CEO Pakistan Business Council Mr. Ehsan Malik gave a comprehensive presentation encompassing various aspects of Pakistan’s growing agro-food sector ready to cater to the needs of diverse sets of consumers.

A presentation on Pakistan’s packaged and processed food landscape was given by the Deputy Director TDAP Ms. Madiha Ali focusing on emerging food brands of Pakistan that have already made an ingress into the international market.

The main session of the webinar was followed by B2B meetings among brand representatives and potential importers from Singapore.

A total of nine brands including renowned names as Garibsons Pte Ltd., Shan Foods, National Foods, Chashni Sweets, Vital Tea, Tapal Tea, Karachi Nimko, and exporters of Himalayan Pink Salt attended these B2B sessions from Pakistan.

The High Commission plans to co-host the next webinar on June 17, 2021 with a focus on the export of fresh fruits and vegetables.
