SINGAPORE: A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House in Singapore on Saturday to commemorate the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan.
Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mission restricted the gathering to the High Commission’s staff only.
The High Commissioner Ms. Rukhsana Afzaal hoisted the flag to the tune of the National Anthem followed by the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan read out by the Press Counsellor Mr. Muhammad Saleem and Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Farhana Asif respectively.
The messages reaffirmed the resolve to follow Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s vision for addressing the challenges faced by the nation.

The evolving focus of the government from geo-politics to geo-economics to address complex challenges of overpopulation, malnutrition, lack of basic services was particularly highlighted.
The commitment to stand firmly behind our Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for the right to self-determination and commitment to sensitize the international community of grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K) were also reiterated.
The ceremony ended with prayers for peace, prosperity and stability of the country and the region.
