Pakistan, Indian army officials to discuss LoC ceasefire on Friday

NEW DELHI: Pakistani and Indian senior military officials will meet on Friday in Pooch sector in Jammu & Kashmir to discuss ways to strengthen the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) against the backdrop of violations in the recent past, Indian media reported on Thursday.

The meeting will be held between brigade commanders of the two countries in Chakan da Bagh area as part of a decision taken during the meeting of the Directors General Military Operations (DGMOs) of both the countries on December 24 at the Wagah border.

The Indian army officials said that ways to strengthen the ceasefire will be the focus of the meeting.

In the DGMOs meeting, it was decided that two flag meetings between brigade commanders will be held on the LoC to ensure peace and tranquility and the hotline mechanism between them would be made more effective and result-oriented.
