Pakistan lodges protest over firing by Indian troops across working boundary

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Monday summoned the Deputy High Commissioner of India to lodge Pakistan’s protest over unprovoked Indian firing across the Working Boundary in Sialkot sector.

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel fired shots across the Working Boundary near Sialkot into the Charwah sector in the early hours of Monday, killing at least two Pakistanis and injuring three others including a woman.

“It was emphasized that such unfortunate incidents were taking place at a time when the leadership on both sides had expressed willingness to improve bilateral relations, which had paved the way for the Foreign Secretary-level talks to resume dialogue,” the foreign office said in a statement.

The foreign office said that this was the 54th incident of ceasefire violation by Indian troops since July this year.
