ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Thursday lodged a strong protest with India against the unprovoked ceasefire violations at the Line of control (LoC) in which one civilian was killed while 12 others injured.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Thursday, it said that Director General (South Asia & South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) called in the Indian Deputy High Commissioner today and lodged a strong protest against the unprovoked ceasefire violations on October 19-20, 2016 by the Indian occupation forces at the LoC in Karela Sector.

The Foreign Office said that the Indian fire resulted in martyrdom of 28-year-old civilian Abdul Rehman S/o Gul Zaman. It said that 12 civilians including children and women were also injured as a result of the Indian fire.

It was conveyed that the Indian side must investigate the incident and share the findings with Pakistan.

“India must instruct its troops to respect the Ceasefire, in letter and spirit, refrain from intentionally targeting the villages and maintain peace and stability on the LoC,” the Foreign Offices said.

It said that Pakistan notes with deep concern that during the last couple of months, there have been a number of ceasefire violations from the Indian side on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
