ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will participate in the 21st World Petroleum Congress to be held from June 15-19 in Moscow, seeking new avenues leading to business growth and foster responsible management of the world’s energy resources.

The federal minister for petroleum and natural resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will lead a high-level government delegation in the event.

The minister will also address a ministerial session on June 19 for a select delegates-only audience, highlighting incentives and facilitation offered by the government to enhance exploration of hydrocarbons in the country to meet energy needs.

The Pakistan Petroleum Limited and the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, the two key national oil and gas companies, will also attend the congress and ministerial session and give a presentation on their exploration programme.

The World Petroleum Congress, held every three years, is a key event in the global petroleum calendar, bringing together industry leadership and government representatives to discuss application and transfer of latest technology.

The congress is expected to draw over 5000 delegates with more than 500 operators, contractors, suppliers and service providers from across the world, who will also participate in an exhibition held on the sidelines of the congress.
