ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed gratitude to the Overseas Pakistanis who remitted US$ 2.27 billion in January 2021 which is 19% up over 2020, making it the 8th consecutive month of US$ 2 billion remittances.

In a statement on Twitter on Monday, the prime minister said that there is a record increase in remittances over the last eight months as the remittances remained above US$ 2 billion over the 8th consecutive months.

The prime minister said that the remittances were US$ 2.27 billion in January 2021 which are 19% higher than the corresponding period last year.

“This is a record for our Country and I thank our Overseas Pakistanis”, he said.

Alluding to the Industrial Sector, the prime minister also highlighted the sustained growth in Large Scale Manufacturing (LSM), which grew by 11.4% in December and 8% from July to December 2020.

The prime minister said that the Industrial Sector is also showing sustained growth. He said that the LSM saw another double-digit growth of 11.4% in December 2020.

Imran Khan said that the cumulative growth of the Industrial Sector during the first half of the ongoing Fiscal Year 2020-21 is above 8%.
