ISLAMABAD/KARACHI, Pakistan: The Interior Ministry on Tuesday dispatched a reference against Altaf Hussain to the government of United Kingdom for inciting people to create chaos in Pakistan.

In a statement issued by the ministry on Tuesday, it said that the reference consists of Altaf Hussain’s vicious speech and also evidences relating to inciting people to create chaos.

It said that Altaf Hussain had committed violation of British as well as international laws. Action should be taken against him as per British laws.

In the reference, the government of United Kingdom has been asked for legal action against those responsible for inciting people to cause disorder in Pakistan.

On August 22 while addressing the MQM’s workers at party’s kunger strike camp outside the Karachi Press Club, Altaf Hussain made provocative statements, raised slogans against Pakistan and also incited party workers to storm media houses.

MQM’s Waseem Akhtar takes oath as Mayor Karachi

Separately, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Waseem Akhtar took the oath as a Mayor of Karachi along with Arshad Vohra as a Deputy Mayor in a ceremony held in Karachi which was attended by large number of people belonging to different walks of life.

The Returning Officer Samiuddin Siddiqui administered the oath to Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Karachi.

On the occasion, the key of metropolis was handed over to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

“We have to set aside all differences to go forward,” Waseem Akhtar said.

“I will resolve problems of people in Karachi. Pakistan depends on money of Karachi. I am with MQM under the leadership of Farooq Sattar,” he added.
