The Pakistan-Sri Lanka Armed Forces Defence Dialogue will be held in Colombo this week, with an aim to promote professional and mutually beneficial relations between both armed forces.

In the armed forces defence dialogue, the Defence Secretary of Pakistan Lt. General (retd) Ikram Ul Haq will lead the Pakistani delegation.

Lt. General (retd) Ikram Ul Haq will leave for Colombo on Tuesday (October 2) along with a high level delegation for a four days visit. His visit will end on October 5.

Besides participating in the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Armed Forces Defence Dialogue, Lt. General (retd) Ikram Ul Haq will have a meeting with his Sri Lankan Counterpart Kapila Waidayyarathne to discuss matters of professional interests.

The defence secretary will also hold meetings with the Sri Lankan Chief of Defence Staff Admiral R.C. Wijegunaratne and the Commanders of Sri Lanka Tri-Forces.

Defence ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are based on mutual trust and commonality of interest in maintaining regional peace, security and stability.

Earlier in January 2018, Pakistani Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also undertook a two-day visit to Sri Lanka on the invitation of his Sri Lankan Counterpart Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.
