ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said last night Pakistan achieved a big diplomatic success after Dutch anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders cancelled the planned blasphemous caricature competition following Pakistan’s protest.

Talking to media outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Fawad Chaudhry said Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed regret over blasphemous cartoons.

Fawad Chaudhry said there was a need of a global strategy over blasphemous sketches. He said that a nefarious attempt was made to create fiction among Muslims. He said the people of European Countries also opposed the caricatures contest.

While talking about the Federal Cabinet’s visit to army’s general headquarters led by the prime minister, the minister said yesterday’s briefing at GHQ was very important. He said the briefing was about defense and security matters.

The information minister said the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa told the Cabinet members that Pakistan army was a subsidiary institution of the government, and it would pursue the policies formulated by the civilian government.

The minister said they all wanted peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as wanted the United States and Russia to invest in Pakistan.

In addition, Fawad Chaudhry said Pakistan desired to have cordial ties with India rather than engaging in a war.
