ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Friday condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Indian Occupation Forces on January 11, 2018 in Kot Kotera Sector along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the Shahadat of a 65-year-old lady.
Hussain Bibi – wife of Haji Farzand and a resident of Peer Khana Village – was martyred when the Indian Occupation Forces resorted to firing in Kot Kotera Sector on Thursday.
In a statement issued in Islamabad on Friday, the Foreign Office said that the Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr Muhammad Faisal summoned the acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner today and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Indian Occupation Forces in Kot Kotera Sector.
The Foreign Office said that despite calls for restraint, India continues to indulge in ceasefire violations as in 2018 the Indian forces have carried out more than 70 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary in just 12 days, resulting in the Shahadat of one innocent civilian and injuries to five others.
“This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed more than 1900 ceasefire violations,” the Foreign Office said.
It said that the deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation, it added.
The Foreign Office said that the Director General (SA & SAARC) urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
The Director General (SA & SAARC) urged that the Indian side should permit United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
