DOHA: Pakistan has shown interest to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar to overcome its energy crisis.
It came at a meeting between Chief Minister Punjab‚ Shahbaz Sharif and the Qatari Minister for Energy and Industry Mohammad bin Saleh Al Sada in Doha.
The two sides agreed to follow up the decisions taken during the meeting by designing focal points and to meet again within couple of weeks for further negotiations.
Shahbaz Sharif also invited Qatar to invest in a 5000 megawatt (MW) coal fired plant in Pakistan.
He said a detailed feasibility report will be sent to the government of Qatar soon.
Shahbaz Sharif also held meetings with Pakistani executives working in the oil and gas sector and bankers working in different financial institutions.
