ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid has said that Pakistan will first time participate in “Our Ocean Conference” schedule to be held on September 15 in Washington.

Pakistan was invited by Secretary of State of US John Kerry through a letter, said a press release issued here on Friday.

The conference will focus on sustainable fisheries, marine pollution and climate-related impacts on the ocean.

The minister hold a consultation meeting with representative of relevant departments to highlight Pakistan’s point of view in the conference effectively.

Dr Asif Inam from Ministry of Science and Technology said, “we should vast our activities to tab the resources through this opportunity and make an active participation”.

Dr. Ahsan Feroz, from Ministry of Science and Technology, Captain Faiz Hussain from Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant Commander Pervaiz Iqbal from Neval Head Quarter, Dr. Muhammad Asif Riaz from Navy, Dr. Alamdar Hussain Malik, Director Ports and Shipping and M. Junaid Wattu from Ministry of Food and Security also attended the meeting.

Provincial governments will also be invited in next meeting for consultation to actively participate in this high level conference.
