ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan would play its due role in implementing United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution on Yemen crisis adopted on April 14.
In an interview with Saudi Gazette and Daily Okaz, the prime minister said that the UNSC resolution adopted on April 14 provided a framework for early resolution of the crisis in Yemen and was driven by the vision of the Saudi leadership.
“We are confident that this will be helpful in bringing about an early end to the ongoing difficult situation in Yemen,” he said.
The prime minister said that they have affirmed to the Saudi leadership that Pakistan would fully participate and contribute to the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution.
Nawaz Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s firm resolve to respond to any aggression against Saudi Arabia.
“I’m saying once again that any aggression on Saudi Arabia will be dealt with strongly and effectively,” Sharif said.
The Pakistan premier said that during his talks with the Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, he assured that any violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia would evoke a strong response from Pakistan.
Sharif said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy strong brotherly relations and cooperation in diverse fields.
