ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar will be further strengthened.
“Qatar is a very important country in the region,” Sharif said in a meeting with the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces Major General Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al Ghanim in Islamabad on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed matters related to mutual interest particularly in the field of defence.
In his remarks, the prime minister said that Pakistan has close relationship with Qatar.
Sharif said that there is a lot of potential for cooperation between the two countries in the field of industry and defense.
The Qatari Chief of Armed Forces said that the brotherly and warm relations between Pakistan and Qatar will further grow in all fields of bilateral cooperation.
Earlier on Monday, the Chief of Staff Qatar Armed Forces also held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif when he visited the army general headquarters in Rawalpindi.
“During the meeting matters of mutual interest were discussed,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The Chief of Staff Qatar Armed Forces appreciated Pakistan army’s professionalism and achievements in war against terrorism.
