Pakistan, Turkmenistan agree to enhance bilateral trade

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Turkmenistan have agreed to enhance their bilateral trade.

In a meeting with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Islamabad after the conclusion of the 13th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to cooperation with Turkmenistan in energy and transport infrastructure. 

The prime minister underscored the need for early operationalization of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. He said that Pakistan has already expressed willingness to join the Lapis Lazuli Corridor and the Central Asia-Middle East Corridor.

Nawaz Sharif thanked the Turkmen president for participating in the ECO Summit 2017 and making valuable contributions towards its deliberations.

While congratulating the prime minister on the successful hosting of the Summit, the president of Turkmenistan said that he was pleased with the Summit’s outcome for it has identified the path for the ECO’s future progress and development.

The Turkmen president also thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the warmth and hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
